Why estate planning matter?

Estate planning is not just about writing a Will. A Will is important, but it is only one part of ensuring your wishes are properly protected.

Many people assume that once a Will is signed everything is taken care of. In reality, other factors can affect what happens to your estate. For example, pension nomination forms may still name someone you no longer intend to benefit, property may pass automatically to a joint owner regardless of what a Will says, and without an Enduring Power of Attorney loved ones may struggle to manage finances if capacity is lost.

At Bridge to Justice we take a wider view. Our estate planning meetings are designed to look at the whole picture so that the documents you put in place work together clearly and your wishes are properly protected.

What the Estate Planning Package Includes?

Will
A Will records how your estate should be distributed after your death and who you wish to act as executor.

Enduring Power of Attorney (EPOA)
An Enduring Power of Attorney allows someone you trust to manage your financial affairs if you lose mental capacity. Without this document, family members may need to apply to the Court in order to manage finances.

Estate Planning Discussion
As part of the meeting we discuss matters that can affect how an estate operates, including property ownership, pension nomination forms and digital assets.

Safeguarding Approach
Instructions are taken privately with the client first to ensure decisions are made freely. This helps protect against pressure or undue influence.
